India's first whole-food running fuel

Real fuel.
For real runners.

Honey, jaggery, sea salt. That's the ingredient list. No maltodextrin, no synthetic sweeteners, no mystery powders. Built for Indian heat, Indian sweat, and the kilometres we actually run.

The problem we're solving

Most gels are candy dressed up as performance.

Open any imported gel. Maltodextrin, sucralose, citric acid, artificial flavour. Cheap to make, sweet to sell, hard on your stomach at km 25.

Imported sports gels

Sugar syrup with a science label.

  • Maltodextrin as the #1 ingredient
  • Sucralose, acesulfame, artificial colours
  • Formulated for European climate, not 35ยฐC runs
  • Costs โ‚น250โ€“400/sachet after import duties
  • GI distress is a coin flip
Hivemile

Food your grandmother would recognise.

  • Single-origin Indian honey as the base
  • Jaggery for slow-release glucose + minerals
  • Higher sodium โ€” built for Indian sweat profile
  • โ‚น95 per sachet, made in Pune
  • Tested across 200+ training runs
What's actually inside

Five ingredients. That's it.

If you can pronounce it, we'll put it in. If we can't trace it back to a farm, beekeeper, or salt pan, it doesn't make the cut.

๐Ÿฏ

Wildflower honey

Sourced from Nilgiris apiaries. Lab-tested for purity โ€” no sugar syrup adulteration.

๐ŸŸค

Kolhapuri jaggery

Slow-release glucose plus naturally occurring iron, magnesium, and potassium.

๐Ÿง‚

Sea salt

180mg sodium per sachet โ€” calibrated to how Indian runners actually sweat.

๐ŸŒฑ

Tapioca starch

Slow-release complex carb. Smooth gel texture, sustained energy after the honey hit. Prebiotic bonus.

๐Ÿ‹

Real flavour

Cardamom, lemon, ginger, kokum. Cold-pressed and culturally familiar โ€” not "tropical blast."

Why we built this in India

Indian runners deserve fuel made for India.

European gels were designed for 18ยฐC marathons. Ours is built for the 6 AM Mumbai humidity, the Delhi winter half, and every Sunday long run in between.

1.8x

more sodium

Indian runners lose 1.5โ€“2g sodium per litre of sweat. We dose accordingly. Western gels under-replenish.

35ยฐC

heat-stable

Formulated so the gel doesn't separate, crystallise, or ferment in your race-belt pocket.

โ‚น95

per sachet

Less than half the price of imported gels. Made in Pune, sold direct. No middlemen, no import duties.

How to fuel

Simple, every kilometre.

01

Tear & squeeze

One sachet, 32g, fits in any running belt. Tear at the notch.

02

Every 40 minutes

One sachet every 35โ€“45 minutes of running. Chase with water โ€” not a sports drink.

03

Train with it first

Never try new fuel on race day. Practice on your long runs. Your gut needs to learn.

Why Hivemile exists

I'm not an elite runner. That's the point.

I started running two years ago. Hated my first 5K. Loved my first 10. Somewhere around month nine, I started taking long runs seriously โ€” and realised every gel on the Indian market was either smuggled-back GU at โ‚น400 a pop, or a glucose powder that tasted like regret.

So I started building. Hand-cooking small batches in my Mumbai kitchen. Testing on my own long runs along Marine Drive. Sharing with runners I meet at the Sunday club. Honey, jaggery, salt, tapioca starch, real flavour โ€” that's it.

Hivemile is the fuel I needed at km 18 of my first half marathon. If you're somewhere on your own running journey โ€” first 5K or fiftieth marathon โ€” this is for you too.

Frequently asked

Questions worth asking.

Isn't honey just sugar? Why is this better?
Honey contains fructose, glucose, trace enzymes, and minerals โ€” not just sucrose. Combined with jaggery and salt, it's a far more complete fuel than maltodextrin alone. Your gut tolerates real food better than synthetic carbs at high intensity.
Will it give me a sugar crash?
No โ€” but only if you fuel correctly. One sachet every 35โ€“45 minutes maintains steady blood glucose. The jaggery slows absorption versus pure honey, which is why we blend them.
Is the honey actually pure?
Every batch is third-party lab tested for sugar syrup adulteration, antibiotics, and pesticide residue. We publish results on our site. Honey fraud in India is real โ€” we're not playing.
When does it ship?
First batch ships to waitlist members in Q3 2026. Early access gets 30% off and free shipping on your first box of 12 sachets.
Is this enough fuel for a marathon?
For most runners, 4โ€“6 sachets through a marathon (90โ€“130g carbs) is appropriate. Elite athletes targeting 90g/hr may want to supplement with our upcoming Hivemile Pro line.
